One of the most prestigious Japanese restaurants in Sydney

Azuma Restaurant first opened in Crows Nest in 1996 and quickly became popular with its high standard of food quality. Since relocating to its current location at Chifley Plaza in 2002, they have established their reputation as one of the most prestigious Japanese restaurants in Sydney, winning one hat from Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Food Guide multiple times. The owner-chef, Kimitaka Azuma had been honoured to be chosen to the Royal Dinner to welcome the Crown Prince of Japan and his wife when they made an official visit to Australia, as well as for the gala dinner of Opera Australia several years ago. His TV appearances include “Food Safari” on SBS.

Azuma Restaurant offers everything you can expect from a first class restaurant in Japan; authentic cuisine available “a la carte” or various menus for both lunch and dinner. They have a large and luxurious main dining space, a comfortable sushi bar [where skillful sushi chefs make sushi and sashimi in front of you], and special private rooms.

If you are a beginner to this restaurant, Azuma’s famous Degustation, Omakase (lunch $70 / dinner $110pp) is the perfect recommendation for you to taste a variety of their delicious food in many different styles of cooking. Perhaps most of you are familiar with the word “Wagyu”, but what about one that actually melts in your mouth? Why don’t you experience for yourself the Wagyu Sukiyaki or Shabu Shabu hot pot ($66pp / minimum order for 2).

Recently they have also started a very unique Japanese style High Tea (2pm-5pm Mon-Fri) – serving sushi rolls instead of sandwiches along with delicious cakes and sweets. You can also order sushi rolls and dessert “a la carte” if you just want to have a cup of coffee or tea with a serve of desserts. For those theatre lovers, Azuma is a rare Japanese restaurant that offers a Pre-Theatre Menu (2 course $55 or 3 course $66) as well.
